Kathleen is an orthopaedic surgeon who has practised in Ottawa since obtaining her fellowship in 1984. She has a special interest in, and has limited her practice to problems of the foot and ankle for the past 20 years. She has been on staff at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) for 14 years and is associated with the University where she focuses on Undergraduate Medical Education. Her research interests (with publications) include postoperative pain management, physician education and Work- life policies for Medical Staff. Committee work includes Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, Regional wound Care and Co-Chairing the Female Physician Leadership Committee.

Kathleen has been a member of FMWC for over 35 years. She has been president of the Ottawa Branch and for the past 7 years served in various roles on the National Executive including President Elect, President (started the Pap Smear Campaign), Past President, Chair of Finance Committee and Treasurer.

Kathleen and her husband (also an orthopaedic surgeon) have two children – both “grown and flown”. Outside interests include a summer cottage on the Rideau Lakes where boating, fishing and reading are favourite pastimes.
