After a presentation at the 2017 FMWC AGM in Ottawa on Women, Peace and Security, a decision was made for the FMWC to officially join the Women Peace and Security Network in Canada as an Organizational Member. Since then, the organization has signed on in support of several petitions, and letter writing campaigns. They will also be involved with meetings with government in support of the women, peace and security priorities of the Government of Canada.
A steering committee has been formed to explore what specific projects would be best suited to specifically leverage FMWC and its relationship with MWIA. The first project identified is around advocating for comprehensive reproductive care and counselling (including medical abortions) to women in fragile or conflict zones. A priority area being Rohingya refugees presently in Bangladesh.
