Dr, Beverly Johnson has been a Community Family Physician in Ottawa since 1989 and is grateful for the honour of providing primary care to families for over 25 years. She attended University of Toronto Medical School and did a Family Medicine Residency in Winnipeg.
Dr. Johnson joined the Federation of Medical Women of Canada as a medical student in 1983 and has enjoyed membership in the Ottawa Branch since 1988. Dr. Johnson has held various roles with the FMWC including Chair of the Financial Committee, Chair of the 2017 Women’s Health and Well-being national conference, and National President 2017-2018 of the Federation of Medical Women of Canada. During her President year, Dr. Johnson worked with our Board to set up 3 new advocacy focus areas for FMWC: Women, Peace and Security, Women's Cardiac and Cerebrovascular Health and Gender Equity and Diversity. Currently Dr. Johnson is National Past President and Chair, Gender Equity and Diversity Committee focused on Medical Women in Canada, examining the challenges Women Physicians face as well as the change they bring to the practice and culture of medicine.
Outside of family medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys a balanced life including running, yoga, daily mindfulness practice and spending time with her family and friends.
