An orthopaedic surgeon practicing in Ottawa since obtaining her fellowship in 1984, Kathleen has a special interest in, and has limited her practice to problems of the foot and ankle. A member of The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) staff for 14 years, Kathleen is also associated with the University where she focuses on Undergraduate Medical Education. Her research interests (with publications) include postoperative pain management, physician education and work- life policies for medical staff. Committee work includes Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, Regional Wound Care and Co-Chairing the Female Physician Leadership Committee.
Kathleen has been a member of FMWC for over 35 years. Her service includes president of the Ottawa Branch and various additional roles during the past 7 years on the National Executive including President Elect, President (started the Pap Smear Campaign), Past President, Chair of Finance Committee and Treasurer.
Kathleen and her husband (also an orthopaedic surgeon) have two children – both “grown and flown.” Outside interests include a summer cottage on the Rideau Lakes where boating, fishing and reading are favourite pastimes.
